About Me

Hi. Im Melissa Coles and welcome to my page. If you would have told me five years ago the direction of my life, I would definitely have not believed you. I had been praying to the Lord telling him I was very grateful for my life but that my child was about grown. I was feeling burned out on my job like I was clocking in and clocking out, come home cook dinner, clean house and take care of my family. All of that is great, but I needed some excitement some adventure if you will. I said I wanted to travel all over the world, wanted to meet new people and new cultures. That I wanted to see everything, not asking for much right? When you come to the Lord with a request you better buckle your seatbelt you never know what may take place.

I had said my whole adult life that I wanted to leave my mark on this world before I leave this earth. (Not having a clue what that looked like) Little did I know what all the Lord had in store. I would spend the next four years of my life learning and becoming a public speaker promoting the award-winning documentary called I LIVED on Parker Avenue. Kirk Cameron received a copy of the documentary through a friend and him and his wife loved it. Kirk took it to the Kendrick brothers and said he was thinking of doing a movie what did they think and the Kendrick’s said “not only do we like it we love it and want to be a part of it.” Hence the movie the LIFEMARK was birthed. I would go on to then promote the documentary and the movie together and it changed my status as a public speaker to an international speaker.

While being on set during part of the filming of LIFEMARK it relit a fire I had in me I thought was a smoldering dream since high school. I wanted to act but wait I was too old to start something this big. NOPE, it’s never too late to chase your dreams. So, I sent in my first audition to a movie called Disciple’s in the Moonlight. I got the role; I couldn’t believe it! I had told someone even if I only do it once I can at least say I did it. Thinking this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity I gave it everything I had although I was scared to death being my first time on a real movie set. I was so in love with being on set that I couldn’t let it go. I got the taste; I was hungry and although I sent in audition after audition with either no response or “were going to go another direction” I didn’t let the word “NO” stop me. Instead, I let it fuel me! The more I heard “NO” the hungrier I got and the deeper that fire in me was burning. It burned so deep and so hot I couldn’t let it go. After all, it only takes ONE yes. I get my next role in a movie called America’s Prayer and trained as a boxer and a washed-out tired mom. Afterwards, I kept going and kept going kind of like that little engine that could. Mowing down the naysayers with the acceptance of each new role. I say this because Isaiah 54:17 No weapon formed against me shall prosper and any tongue that rises against me in judgement shall be condemned. I will continue this passion so long as the fire is there for me to do so.

In between speaking and acting I thought I need to get my book done. Thinking it was going to be one simple book. I could not be more wrong. LIFEPRINT (The Power of ONE yes) really took it out of me physically and emotionally because I had to relive things from my past that I would rather forget. Countless nights my husband would come in the living room, my office or find me sitting up somewhere in the house and and say “baby, its 3:30 am are you coming to bed?” He put up with a lot from me and kept his patience as I navigated my way through my first book. I would look up to him and say, “I’m about done I think.” And he would say “yea, until the next one.” He was correct as LIFEPRINT (The Power of ONE Yes) came to an end just recently. I have started LIFEPRINT the journal which will be released in not-too-distant future. My first children’s book is complete and awaiting a release date, I have three more true stories to write and two more children’s books so far.

You’re never too old to chase your dreams. I pray that this inspires you to go after your dreams.
